Training for Professionals —

CID & A-TIP

For Therapists, Healthcare Professionals, Educators, and First Responders: Critical Incident Desensitization (CID) & Acute Traumatic Incident Processing (A-TIP)

CID & A-TIP are brief interventions aimed to facilitate stabilization and recovery either during or after a critical incident, trauma, or distressing event. Based on the same principles that underlie Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). The goals of CID & A-TIP are to immediately reduce distress and improve functioning. These interventions are highly focused, quick, psychological first aid interventions. Within 5-10 minutes, clinicians can guide clients to rapidly reduce acute disturbance following critical incidents.

Developed by Gary Quinn, MD and Roy Kiessling, LISW, these interventions have been taught to teachers, medical providers, and emergency responders across the US, Canada, Turkey, and Hong Kong.

These techniques are not considered to be psychotherapy and can thus be administered by healthcare professionals, first responders, and others trained in these techniques.

Amita provides live and virtual trainings to therapists, healthcare professionals, educators, and first responders. To learn more, contact Amita.
